Replace the Heating Coil of a Cosori CP158-AF Airfryer
Starting Situation
Air fryers are fantastic kitchen companions - until the day you make one of those rookie mistakes that leaves you staring at a melted mess. That's exactly what happened to me when I carelessly tossed in a food package without checking whether it was safe for high-heat cooking. The result? A thin layer of plastic fused stubbornly onto the heating coil, releasing an unpleasant smell with every use and, more importantly, raising real concerns about the safety of anything cooked inside.
Cleaning it off was not an option - once plastic bonds to a glowing-hot coil, no amount of scrubbing will fully remove it without risking damage to the element itself. So the only sensible fix was a full heating coil replacement.
Replacement Heating Coil
You can order a replacement on e.g. AliExpress => "Air Fryer Heating Element, 1700W 220-240V"
=> compare with your old coil if it complies with the specifications
Repair Instructions
- On the next level remove the marked screws
- Turn the device and pull the head cover with a screwdriver or better a plastic scraper and unscrew the labelled screws
- Remove the next level frame, loose the screws for the heating coil
- Separate the metal frame from the ground and open the brackets that holds the coil
- Insert the new heating coil and reassemble everything in reverse order
In my case a modification of the fitting panel was needed => center hole (otherwise you can't mount the coil)
Now you can enjoy your Airfryer again ;-)
